Lauren Barney Shine Night Walk
Lauren Barney, who is employed on a Quantity Surveying Student Placement with Allied Surveyors Scotland at their Greenock office, took part in the Shine Night Walk Glasgow over the weekend of 31 st August/1 st September.
Lauren, who is completing her 3rd year of a Quantity Surveying course at Glasgow Caledonian University, was motivated to enter following the tragic loss of her Dad from cancer earlier this summer. She was determined to do something tangible in her Dad’s memory and so entered the Shine event to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. She was joined in the walk by her friend, Rebekah Kemp and initially set a fundraising target of £200. With support from family and friends the girls smashed their target with an impressive £960 raised to date. Together with Gift Aid and supplemented by an additional £250 donation from Allied Surveyors Scotland’s Matched Funding Scheme, they will raise in excess of £1,400 for this fantastic cause.
The Matched Funding Scheme is open to all Allied staff who carry out charitable fundraising during the current financial year. The Shine Night Walk comprises a 10k route round Glasgow City Centre and West End and last year raised in excess of £140,000 for Cancer Research UK.
