The Lamp of Lothian, a charity founded in 1967 by the late Duchess of Hamilton, is set to re-launch one of their most iconic properties as a multi-let office building.

Haddington House on the town’s Sidegate was previously occupied by the property firm Savills but will now undergo a major six-figure refurbishment and modernisation programme.

A planning application has recently been submitted and it is hoped that approvals will be granted by the summer to allow works to commence in the category A-listed building.

The East Coast agency branch of Allied Surveyors Scotland has been appointed to market the accommodation which will provide office space from 100 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft over three floors.

“Haddington is a fast growing and popular market town and we know there is pent up demand from businesses looking for good quality office premises,” said director of commercial agency (east), Iain Mercer.

“The building will provide space of varying sizes and tenants will also be able to enjoy the fabulous gardens which sit just behind the building.”

The Lamp of Lothian’s portfolio in Haddington extends to Poldrate Mill, Granary and Mault House and Alistair Grant Hall currently catering for around 1,000 visitors every week.

Vice-Chairman of Lamp of Lothian Board of Trustees, Jenny Harper, commented:

“Haddington House is the jewel in The Lamp of Lothian’s crown and our principal revenue producing asset which allows us to provide a range of free facilities to the local community.

“The investment we are making in Haddington House will future proof the building and we are looking forward to welcoming new tenants later in the year.”
