Student Placement Spotlight: Matthew Joins the Allied Surveyors Scotland Team

We’re pleased to welcome Matthew, a third-year student from Edinburgh Napier University, who has recently joined Allied Surveyors Scotland for a year-long placement as part of his degree programme.

Over the past month, Matthew has spent time working from both our Helensburgh and Bearsden offices, gaining exposure to a wide range of property types and client requirements. Reflecting on his first few weeks, he said:

“I’ve recently completed my first month as a trainee surveyor with Allied Surveyors Scotland as part of my third-year placement, and it’s been a fantastic introduction to the profession.

My time has been split between the Helensburgh and Bearsden offices, each offering a different pace and variety of work. In Helensburgh, I gained valuable experience working with rural and coastal properties, while in Bearsden I was introduced to a busier, suburban market with a broader range of property types and survey requirements.

This contrast has helped me develop a well-rounded perspective early on in my career and given me a solid foundation to build on.

I’m very grateful to everyone in both offices for being so welcoming and supportive, and I’m looking forward to what the rest of my placement brings!”
