Sale completes on former Macdonald Marine Hotel staff accommodation in North Berwick

The staff accommodation building belonging to the former Macdonald Marine Hotel in North Berwick has been sold, Allied Surveyors Scotland can confirm.

The building, which sits on a half-acre plot in the town’s Dirleton Avenue, has been acquired for redevelopment by Caledonian Heritable.

The eventual sale price is not being disclosed but it was in excess of the £1.353 million asking price.

The 9,108 sq ft property which consists of 18-bedrooms over four-storeys, was placed on the market in March.

“Such is the demand for property in North Berwick there was considerable interest from the moment we listed it,” said Allied Surveyor’s director of commercial agency (east), Iain Mercer.

“It led to a highly competitive and, ultimately, successful closing date for our client.”

Chicago-based AJ Capital Partners purchased the iconic Marine Hotel & Spa along with the staff accommodation block, which became surplus to requirements, from Macdonald Hotels in February 2020.

A major refurbishment of the seaside venue is currently underway.

Ends.
