A Tribute to Robert Smith

It is with great sadness that we have to advise of the passing of our colleague and friend Robert Smith on Friday 5th September, aged 68.
Known simply as Bob to all who knew him, he was a highly respected and valued member of the property community in Edinburgh and beyond. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humour, withering quips and warm personality all of which often raised a smile amongst his colleagues.
When Allied Surveyors Scotland was formed in 1998, the firm Bob was with at the time, Davidson and Robertson, joined as a founding shareholder. He has been a director of Allied Surveyors ever since with his skills spanning commercial and residential valuations in our Edinburgh and Bathgate offices.
Out with surveying, football was a sport close to his heart. His beloved football team, Queen of the South, was never far from his mind and cries of ‘Mon the Queens!’ would often be heard emerging from his Walker Street office. And when he wasn’t sitting in the stands or stood on the touchline, he was influencing higher office and could count being a former chairman of local amateur side Edinburgh United amongst his sporting accolades.
Bob will be sorely missed by his colleagues and friends across the Allied Surveyors Scotland network and those who knew him in business and in sport.
He is survived by his partner Sue and his three sons Michael, Christopher and Martin. Our thoughts are with them all at this difficult time.
