Iain W. Mercer

Iain joined Allied Surveyors Scotland in 2018 with the remit of opening the firm’s first commercial agency on the East Coast. After attaining AssocRICS status in 2020, he joined Allied’s Board of Management in 2022 where he advises on marketing and the company’s commercial property strategy. He is also chairman of the firm’s Commercial Board.

He has worked in Scotland’s property industry for nearly 20 years, during which time he has developed extensive knowledge and experience in a wide range of property sectors, including office, retail, investment, and industrial. Prior to being recruited by Allied Surveyors, Iain was managing director of the Almondale Group, a privately owned investment and development company, from 2006 to 2014. Thereafter, he was managing director of a new start commercial agency in Edinburgh and was also a property consultant to Gilson Gray.

Outside of working hours, Iain is a youth football coach with Haddington Athletic and an avid Hearts supporter. He is a keen runner, swimmer, and cyclist and regularly participates in endurance events. He likes to play the guitar, listen to music, and listen to podcasts while also spending time with his wife and two children and travelling abroad whenever possible.

Before joining the property industry, Iain’s career started in news journalism and sports broadcasting where he worked for, amongst others, BBC Radio 5 Live.
